Ikimetsäpuoti – in aid of nature

Ikimetsäpuoti is the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation’s very own shop which sells donated art and valuables, merchandise, and pretty much anything else – but always in aid of nature.

Some of the products can be bought directly at a set price, and others are auctioned. As well as making purchases, you can also use Ikimetsäpuoti to donate items for us to sell.

The Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation uses the proceeds from the shop to buy new conservation areas and to support its conservation work. Ikimetsäpuoti is open for all nature lovers. Help us do some good!

The Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation’s Ikimetsäpuoti can be found online, and also in the centre of Hämeenlinna next to the bus station on Sibeliuksenkatu 2. The shop is open Mondays and Tuesdays noon till 4pm and Thursdays and Fridays 10am till 5pm. Welcome!

The history of Ikimetsäpuoti

In June 2021, the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation organised an auction through Auction House Helander which raised over 60,000 euros in support of the work of the Foundation: protecting Finnish forests. The items sold through the auction consisted of pieces, artist meetings, and cultural acts donated by more than two hundred well-known artists. Auction pieces were donated by visual artist Riitta Nelimarkka, opera singer Jorma Hynninen, artist Kaj Stenvall, and author Rosa Liksom, among others.

After the successful auction we decided to open Ikimetsäkauppa in Hämeenlinna, and the shop opened its doors in July 2021. In early 2022 it became time to also open an online shop. So Ikimetsäpuoti was born, selling high-quality items and auctioning off pieces in aid of Finnish forests.

We are also happy to accept donations of different kinds of items. You can, for example, donate art and valuables, such as paintings, sculptures, and jewellery, as well as books and vintage furniture. We sell the donated items in our shop in Hämeenlinna and online here in Ikimetsäpuoti. All proceeds go to acquiring new conservation areas and carrying out conservation work.
