ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Minna Pyykkö is a visual artist and nature journalist. “There is enough to admire and wonder in Finnish nature.”

”My father Tapsa instilled in me as a child a love for the visual arts, and the idea that it is true and important. That’s when as a kid, I even imagined it would be great to live in a chamber as a hermit, creating stunning paintings, and then come out at the end of life to poke thanks. Fortunately, life takes you in finer directions than you know how to plan in advance.”

ABOUT THE WORK:

“I have visited the island of Söderskär a few times and spent a lot of time in the archipelago in the spring. I wanted to capture the atmosphere of the April morning atmosphere, the wide horizon, the silo cliffs and the spring feel that seagulls and the first terns create in the painting. For me, painting is also miserable: a memory of spring, when there were still many gulles, and a lost friend with whom we have had great spring moments. ”
